Also performing will be Phat Man Dee, Mad Nate, &, via Skype from Germany, Zoe Zephyr. Vincent (whose new collection of vignettes, a follow-up to The Day the Empire Fell, is currently in the works) says his “famous vegan pasta dinner” will also be there, presumably so you can eat it.

All proceeds go to gas & supplies.

Lavender Ink (New Orleans) and the River Writers Reading Series (Baton Rouge, LA) bring you masters of poetry and prose from Louisiana, Dixie, and beyond! We’ll bring you a diverse set of literary styles from a varied group of authors. Come hear some literature, drink an afternoon beer, and have some fun!

You are invited to the concert/zine release bash for author/activist Vincent Eirene’s “The Future Writings of Blast Furnace Radio”. Culled from recent interviews and dialogue, the booklet continues the story of protest/social activism from Vincent’s earlier book The Day the Empire Fell, which will also be available in its 2nd edition. In partnership with Another True Story Publishing, there will be albums by the band A.T.S, and art zines by Evan Knauer. Event starts at 7pm with author Vincent Eirene book signing all night. Drinks and light food provided. Music by The Knauer Brothers 7:30-9, Melissa Chrissy +Ed Trio 9-9:30, Alexei Plotnicov 9:30-10, A.T.S 10-11. Admission to Glitter Box is free, books and albums moderately priced.

“Press Release: 29th annual Martin Luther King benefit concert for the Duncan and Porter homeless shelter. Who: The Knauer Brothers, Qlitterati, Midnight Ensemble, PhatManDee, Gena and Tommy Amoeba. When: Monday January 16th at 9pm. Where: Bloomfield Bridge Tavern 4412 Liberty Ave. Pgh PA. 15244. 412-682-8611. Description: This show is the 29th annual Martin Luther King benefit for the Duncan+Porter Homeless shelter at 1516 Manhattan St. Northside. This year has three new rockin-jazzy-swinging-punk bands, The Knauer Brothers at 9pm, Qlitterati at 10pm, then at 10:30 a special tribute by PhatManDee, Gena+ Tommy Amoeba to the memory of Bobby Porter the great Pittsburgh punk rock band leader-singer who played these MLK-concerts for decades. Then at 11pm Midnight Ensemble. Suggested donation $5 for the rich, $10 for the even richer.
